5 Minutes After Death
5 Minutes After Death
Text: Luke 16:14-31
I would like to start by asking you a question
“What is going to happen to you 5 minutes after you die?”
There are some that will probably say: “Nothing is going to happen.”
But this story that I just read tells us that something is going to happen to us after we die.
One of the things that will happen to you after you die is:
The angels will carry you to Abraham Bossom.
You will open your eyes in Hell and be tormented with flames
2 Cor. 5:8
“We are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and be at home with the Lord.”
If you don’t believe there is a Hell
Just wait 5 minutes after you die, and you will see how real Hell is.
This is the only recorded message given to us that tell us Hell is real.
Jesus preached 10 messages on hell to every 1 message about heaven.
5 minutes after you die; you are going to know that there is life after death.
5 minutes after you die, you are going to know some of the things that the rich man knew.
There is life after death
Death is not the end, but the beginning.
1 Cor. 15:55,56
“O death, where is your victory
O death, where is your sting
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law.”
5 minutes after you die, you are going to know that there is a separation of the Godly and the ungodly.
5 minutes after you die, you are going to see the vanity of being admired.
“What would it profit a man if he gained the whole world and loose his soul?”
5 minutes after you die, you are going to know that there is no respecter person than God.
This rich man found out that there was no respecter person than God.
He open his eyes and was in Hades.
Do you notice that we don’t know the rich man name.
His name is not even mentioned
His name is forgotten
Cause with God, there is no respecter person.
Lazarus name is remembered
But the name of the wicked is forgotten
5 minutes after you die, you will know the vanity of wealth
The rich man dressed well, he ate well
He ate great meals every day, because he was a rich man
Then we see that Lazarus and the rich man died.
It doesn’t mention Lazarus being buried
But the rich man was buried.
The rich man probably had a nice funeral
People probably talked about the nice things he had done for the town
He probably had a couple of schools named after him
People were probably praising him all the way to heaven
But guess what, he went the other way.
You see, money, wealth, greed, and pride separated the rich man from God.
It was the things of this world that the rich man desired the most.
He probably thought he had all the time in the world to accept God before he died.
You see, without Christ in your life, you are on your way to a devil’s hell
We have the only recorded message from hell
Take heed to his warning and don’t go to that place.
5 minutes after you die, you are going to know the vanity of having religious relatives.
It won’t matter who your father was
It won’t matter who your mother was
It won’t matter who your brother was
You will learn the vanity of having religious relatives 5 minutes after you die.
It is not going to help you any
It will probably make it worse.
You can be Lot’s wife, but it didn’t do her any good.
You can be Abraham son, but that didn’t do Ishmael any good.
You can be Jacob son, but it didn’t do Esau any good.
It won’t do you any good to have preachers in your family
Notice what Abraham wanted the rich man to remember:
Remember the good things that you had in your lifetime
Remember the evil things that Lazarus received
Then he remembers his father house.
In short; he remember lost opportunities that he had
He remember the hard times that Lazarus had and he made it
He remember the preciousness of his family
How many opportunities have you let go by?
Don’t wait until you are died to remember them.
But think about them right now
Purple denoted his richness
Fine Linen represented his richness
His sin was just simply that he did not share.
He was a wealthy man who ignored the needs of others
Think of the opportunities that this man had
Now we see that the rich man wanted Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool his tongue.
He wouldn’t give any relief to a man who was hurting with sores, is now begging for relief.
He didn’t show no mercy, is now begging for mercy
He wouldn’t ignore a beggar, is now begging
James 5:1-4
(read)
5 minutes after you die, you are going to remember the opportunities you had, but did not take
You are going to remember holding on to the back of the pew
You are going to remember hearing the Gospel and not obeying.
You are going to remember the opportunities you had to share, give and not do it.
Redeem the time before the days are evil
Work for the night is coming
Cause there is coming a time when no man worketh
As you have opportunity do good unto all men, especially them of a household of faith
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for many entertained angels unaware
You need now to think of the opportunities that you have that you have never had
You can not be the rich man in this life, and Lazarus in the next
You are going to choose to either be the rich man or be Lazarus.
Hell is going to be full of seeing your last opportunities
And its going to be full of seeing the much disadvantages of you making it.
5 minutes after you die
You’re going to think about your family
You need to think about your family now.
Right now is the time to tell your father, mother, brother, sister, wife, son, daughter
Cause 5 minutes after you die, God is not going to send Peter, James, or John to tell your family about this place.
We need to make a sacrifice for our love ones.
And we need to think of the preciousness of our family right now
We must listen to Moses and the Prophets now
Hear them, don’t disbelieve that there is no Hell
Hell is real, and when you go there, you won’t have a 2ndchance to try to do it right.
This may be your last chance to accept Christ
Don’t reject Him
I want you to remember this: There are no answered request in Hell
When I think of the disadvantage of some people
And how they succeed, then I’ll have to be ashamed
Don’t tell Daniel that you’re afraid to pray in public.
Don’t tell the 3 Hebrew children that its too hot to come to Church
Don’t tell Paul you have suffered enough
Don’t talk about suffering to Paul.
Don’t tell David that the enemy is too big
Hell is going to full of Son, remember in your lifetime.
