The Final Hour

The Final Hour

Luke 23:44–46 (NLT): 44 By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 45 The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. 46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

Tell me what did you feel in that final hour as you hung there on the cross

Has they laughed and mockery at your mighty power

Tell me what did you think about them and I’m sure your heart broke for them because they didn’t know who you were

Tell me what did you feel

Has you bore the sins of generations

The weight of the world came crashing down on His shoulders

He bore our sins so that we may be free from the condemnation of sin

His blood dripped from His body down the cross to the ground. His blood even dripped on the soldiers has they walked by I’m sure. He was beaten for our iniquities and He didn’t say a word

Hebrews 9:22 (NLT): 22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

Tell me how did it feel

Knowing your destiny

You knew from the foundation of the world that you would have to be the perfect Lamb for the perfect sacrifice

Though the price it cost you, you still went through with it

Your love goes beyond anything imaginable

You showed us what real love is. What unconditional love is

John 15:13 (NLT): There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Did you ever think of giving up

Did you think of giving in

Lord you have the right to choose

Still you gave your life for all that sinned

Think about this. Christ took on the worst kind of punishment and He still offered Himself up for the sins of the world.

People today are like the soldiers…mock Him, spit upon Him, deny Him, reject Him, ect. And yet Christ still shows love over and over again

In the final hour

Tell me of the cost that it cost you?

Has the sins of the world

We’re placed upon your cross and people still reject you

Tell me how it broke your heart to feel the sins weight upon

Tell me how it broke your heart to see the rejection of people

Tell me how it broke your heart to see mankind love sin over you

In the final hour

With every life in your hands

How could you choose to die

For the wicked man

Your love was far greater than any love known

Yet I wonder

What went through your head

I can only imagine the thoughts going through your mind but yet your love was far greater and mankind still doesn’t have a clue how much love you had for them

If mankind knew how great a love you had, they would be followers of Christ and not lovers of sin

As the life you choose

As you drove nails into yourself

Yet I wonder

Had they known about your power

What would have happened

In the final hour

You had the power to have angels to come and take you off the cross but you chose to lay your life down so that I may have life eternal

But Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, and He must fulfill the scriptures of the prophets. His restraint shows His great power as much as if He would have destroyed them.

Just like God did in the days of Noah. He will this time destroy the world with fire.

Christ died for the ungodly, and while the ungodliness of the wicked waxes worse, we can speak and rejoice of His great grace toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Matthew 26:53–54 (NLT): Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? 54 But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”

While He could have called ten thousand angels, He instead calls all men to Himself, by that very cross to which He was delivered to be lifted up for our offense, and He preaches through His word that He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, telling all that all who believe are justified freely by His grace.

Jesus how could you forgive

When your life was zapped from you

Lord you lived for dying people

Yet you died so they could live

Let us draw near to the cross so that the Blood of the Lamb can cleanse us from all unrighteousness and repent of our sins, confess Christ has the Lord of your life. Meet Him in the waters of baptism to wash away your sins. Buried in His death and arise a new creature made while. Walk in newness of life and be faithful until death
