A look at the similarities between the Israelites and today

The Last Days

Matthew 24:37–39 (NLT): 37 “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. 39 People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.

Let’s take a close look at what Christ says in these words

When the Israelites went into Canaan, they would encounter other Religions.

God knew that if the Israelites didn’t destroy their enemies, that they would be drawn into their culture and religion

Some of these rituals of theses cultures were sexually charged and it appealed to them and often involved the sacrifice of animals.

These practices were a constant struggle with the Israelites because it presented a direct challenge to their Faith to their one true God.

God said “you shall have no other gods before me “

Exodus 20:3 (NLT): 3 “You must not have any other god but me.”

A clear command from God. But shows God is a jealous God

The Israelites were often tempted to turn to these pagan god for help and protection.

This shows that the Israelites would lose their faith and put their trust in these pagan gods.

They see how these cultures around them are and they begin to intertwine with them

The worship of Baal was so attracted to the Israelites because the worship of Baal involved indulging into physical pleasures

But doing certain rituals, the people believed that it would ensure the prosperity of the crops and livestock

The worship of Baal was a sin.

The rituals often involved sexual immorality, drunkenness, and sacrifices that were considered an abomination to the Lord.

The Israelites faith was weak and they gave into the desires of their flesh

They showed a lack of moral integrity

Pleasure seeking has become the norm for people today.

Live only for themselves and do what feels good to them.

Pleasure has become a “idol” in our society today

Can you see how the pagan gods have changed our culture???

It’s sad because people are pursuing this at all cost. It’s just in the days of the Israelites and like in the days of Noah..!!!

People need to stop and think about this…

In the days of Noah. Only his family were saved. Not very many.

Christ tells us that not very many people will be on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life

Can you see how many will fall away in the last days??????

Sin is nothing new

Pursuit of pleasure is nothing new

Worshipping pagan gods is nothing new

Proverbs 6:27 (NLT): 27 Can a man scoop a flame into his lap

and not have his clothes catch on fire?

A rhetorical question is asked here in the Proverbs

This verse tells us that if we engage in dangerous or harmful activities then you should expect  to suffer the consequences that come with your actions

If you play with sin. You will lose every time

Numbers 32:23 (NLT): 23 But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the Lord, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.

This verse still holds true today..!!

Luke 8:17 (NLT): 17 For all that is secret will eventually be brought into the open, and everything that is concealed will be brought to light and made known to all.

John 3:19 (NLT): 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.

1 John 2:15–17 (NLT):15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

The pleasures of this world is pulling people away from God

People are seeking pleasure more than seeking God

There is no pleasure in sexual immorality or sexual pleasure with multiple people

There is no pleasure in adultery

There is no pleasure in drugs

All these sinful pleasures lead you into a false sense of security

People think they are ok and that a Holy God isn’t angry at them because God is a loving God

Romans 6:23 (NLT): 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

The payday for sin always comes

Hebrews 9:27 (NLT): 27 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment,

People are forgetting that there is a judgment approaching for them

Judgment can come quick. We are not promised tomorrow

People have fallen in love with sin so much that they hear the Gospel Message and know it’s true but still reject it because the weight of sin is so bad that they can’t feel the convicting power of the Holy Spirit

people would rather die and go to Hell than to give up their sinful life

Jesus paid the price for our sins

Jesus loves you and wants you to come to Him

Come experience Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and help open your eyes and heart to Gods Word
